Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund

We had the good fortune to have as a member of Zonta Amelia Earhart. Amelia was an inspiration to us all and in her memory, we now have a fellowship fund that awards women who are obtaining advanced degrees in science and engineering.

The Amelia Earhart Fellowships are made possible by the generous contributions of Zontians, Zonta Clubs, and many friends of Zonta, as well as investment income on endowed gifts. Since 1938, more than US$6 million has been contributed to the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund.

In that time, the Fellowship has grown from US$500 in 1939 to US$6,000 in 2005. Today, 35 awards are made annually, up from one award in 1940.

Your contributions to the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Fund means these talented women can invest in state-of-the-art computers to conduct their research, purchase expensive books and resource materials, participate in specialized studies around the globe, and ultimately achieve their educational goals.

AE Fellows have gone on to become astronauts, aerospace engineers, astronomers, professors, geologists, business owners, heads of companies, even the Secretary of the US Air Force. Many have attained positions that provide a platform for influencing policies that improve the lives of women everywhere in a profound manner.
